Men's Hair Loss Treatment in Bolton
Male Pattern Baldness (MPB) or androgenetic alopecia is the cause of over 90% of all men's hair loss problems. It is usually an inherited condition that has passed down the generations and is recognisable by hair loss at the crown and a receding hairline at the front / sides.
The cause of pattern hair loss in men is mainly hormonal. Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is a hormone produced by both men and women from testosterone. Hair loss starts when specific receptors attract and bind DHT to the hair follicle. The hair follicles affected are those at the top, back and sides of the head that have DHT receptors.
As male hair loss progresses, hair follicles miniaturise, producing shorter, finer hairs. With each progressive cycle, the hair follicle produces a finer hair that grows for a shorter period of time, eventually resulting in hair loss.
