Studies have shown that alopecia areata could be an immune system malfunction where your body's own immune system attacks healthy hair follicles causing scalp soreness, tingling, burning or stinging as a result.

Treatment of Alopecia Areata
The first port of call for alopecia sufferers is normally their GP. Your GP will recommend blood tests, steroid creams and referral to a dermatologist.
